Scratch that adventurous itch this weekend and check out one of our top 10 #AmazingIreland locations. Which is your favourite?
1. Carrauntoohil, Co. Kerry.
Where better to start off our #AmazingIreland list than the country’s tallest mountain? If it is a sense of adventure you’re after then this really is the place to be! The sense of achievement you’ll receive when hitting the summit of Carrauntoohil is worth the trip alone. The fantastic views from the summit are just icing on the cake!
2. Giant’s Causeway, Co. Antrim.
What can be more adventurous than following in the footsteps of the giant Finn McCool? You may not be able to skip over to Scotland like Finn, but you can still check out one of Ireland’s greatest natural wonders!
3. The Burren, Co. Clare.
A gift from the ice-age! Take a trip through time and beyond through the Burren’s stoney landscape. You can easily loose a full day taking in all the views, while the wildflowers, transported here by glacier, from the four corners of the world, simply amaze!
4. Trim Castle, Co. Meath.
How about a weekend castle adventure in Trim? This giant construction looks every bit as impenetrable now as it did in the 12th Century!
5. Bailey Lighthouse, Co. Dublin.
Who knew that Ireland’s busiest city could include a place of such solitude? This automated lighthouse in Dublin bay’s most northern tip proves you don’t have to travel too far out of the city to get your adventurous fill!
6. Glenveagh National Park, Co. Donegal.
Hidden away in the north-west of Donegal is one of Ireland’s most stunning national parks. Glenveagh is complete with mountains, lakes, waterfalls, woodland and even a castle, sure what more could you need for a day’s adventure?
7. Newgrange, Co. Meath.
The Boyne Valley is full of eye-catching attractions, but Newgrange is arguably the jewel of the region. This Neolithic tomb predates Stonehenge and the Pyramids and has a pretty neat trick during the Winter Solstice. But you don’t have to wait until December to pay a visit to Newgrange, it’s a truly spectacular monument regardless of date!
8. Cliffs of Moher, Co. Clare.
Gazing down at the birds flying below you is not for the faint of hearted, but there’s arguably no better views of the Atlantic Ocean than there are here!
9. Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, Co. Antrim.
The beauty of Carrick-a-Rede is just reward for anyone willing to brave the 30m high rope-bridge to the tiny island.
10. Glendalough, Co. Wicklow.
The ‘valley of two lakes’ is steeped in history & with its many walking trails there is plenty of ways to take in the region’s beauty.
