Cherries can be grown in glasshouses and tunnels in Ireland. Here at Keelings we grow cherries in our tunnels, as well as importing other stonefruits such as peaches, plums, apricots, and nectarines from warm temperate and subtropical regions of the world.
Keelings Growing Tip
Nets are a must for both sweet and acid varieties as cherries are enormously attractive to birds. If you don’t net them, the birds will get them!
Sweet cherries contain fiber, vitamin C, carotenoids, and anthocyanins, each of which may help play a role in cancer prevention.
When In Season
Irish Cherries are in season from June to Aug and imports are available year round.
