Seasonality Calendar
Irish season for raspberries is usually mid-May right through to November
Raspberry plants can live up to 10 years. Each year they grow new canes. These canes last for 2 years. Raspberry plants also grow underground runners which sort into new plants – meaning you can have raspberry plants for many years!
Use raspberries as a natural sweetener to your desserts reducing your reliance on artificial sugars
Don’t store raspberries in an airtight container as they need air and circulation in order to stay fresh
To reduce food waste why not freeze your leftover berries to eat for a later day
Raspberries are full of fibre which helps lower blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure
Raspberries are packed full of a rich source of Vitamin C
Did you know? Raspberries can be found in 4 different colours – red, black, purple and gold
Raspberries are known to have anti-inflammatory properties
When you pick a raspberry from a plant don’t squeeze the berry as you’ll damage it - all you have to do is give it a gentle tug and it should fall off into your hand
